Freddy "Frederick" the Ferret is a ferret a bit on the plump side, and one of Otis' friends of the Barnyard. Freddy was also introduced in the movie, and keeps his over-hyped attitude. He is often called a "psychotic weasel". He suffers from both multiple personality disorder and paranoid delusions, which are believed to be derived from his desire to eat Peck and his unwillingness to give into those desires. He is sometimes found hot wiring cars for them to drive. He likes hanging around the henhouse. In one deleted scene in the movie, he sees a psychiatrist to help him with his desire to eat Peck, but the psychiatrist barely helps at all. In the episode, "War of the Pranks," aliens wanted his left paw; it is unrevealed why they wanted it. He also will never be separated from Peck. He is a reformed carnivore. He would like to meet the chickens.
His general is trying not to eat his friends. His favorite song is Anything from my Ferret Lady. His favorite movie is Ferret Bueller's Day Off. His favorite television show is Chasing Ferret. His favorite book is Meat Recipes for Dummies. His favorite hero is Will Ferret (when he was on SNL).
His favorite food is chicken-flavored ice cream. In, "Home Sweet Hole," it is revealed that Freddy speaks Italian, as he was performing an Italian-language play with Peck. In, "Meet the Ferrets," it is revealed that he is a vegetarian, which his parents are ashamed of, though they still love him. In, "The Chronicles of Barnia," his character is related to Gollum / Sméagol from The Lord of the Rings, and whenever they play a role-playing game, it takes him two weeks to get out of character. Bessy often calls him a "mangy mongoose".
In the episode, "Meet the Ferrets," it is revealed that Freddy has not seen his parents in 12 years. Upon invitation to Freddy's surprise party by Otis and the gang, Freddy tries to uphold the facade of carnivore for his parents, while keeping the rest of the Barnyard in the dark about it. He divulges his secret to Otis just in time to save Peck from becoming birthday dinner. Freddy then comes out about his vegetarianism to his parents, who are ashamed and disgraced by it, but loving and accepting at the same time.
Freddy has a fondness for explosives, and has been shown to enjoy wood-working, though he only makes pencil cups. He even has the talent to dislocate all of his bones at once, grossing the other animals out. When talking to a human doctor over the phone, he realizes his mother may have only liked him as a friend, much to his sadness. This, however, is probably not true, as she is very loving to him in the episode, "Meet the Ferrets."
He is shown to have multiple personalities. He's not a barn animal, but he still stays at the Barnyard with all of his friends. He also has a tendency to overreact. He is voiced by Cam Clarke.
